Camera Broken

Yup, sad news indeed. Well it's not completely broken, but it seems to now drain new batteries completely within 5 minutes or so. I charged 3 pairs of AA batteries (that's what it takes), and it ate them all within a few shots each pair, so I'm fairly sure it's not the batteries.

As I personally prefer 40k blogs with lots of pictures, I'll probably not be updating this blog for a while seeing as I'm unable to post pictures. Uni has started now anyway, and I'm moving out soon as well, so my post rate was likely to go down anyway. Sad times for my models, happy for everything else!

And so I'm in the market for a new camera, thinking about getting a dslr. We shall see... they're a bit damn expensive!

Weekend Report 27/9/09

Well, not much to show here unfortunately. I quit my job a couple of weeks ago, but have been busy with other things, so not much time for modelling. I have had some small progress on one model though.

Converting this guy from the old plastic terminators to make him look more like the current terminators, and more active too. Mostly finished on the top half, but right now he looks a bit top-heavy, need to do some work on his legs.

Hopefully will get more done soon! :)

Imperial Guard - Cadians

Second photo-dump of the day. My Cadians. In better repair than my Space Marines, due to not being as old. Still not sure about the colour scheme, it was purely functional to allow the army to quickly be used. Also the simple grey + black left me at a loss for vehicles, hence the rather plain sentinels and the confused demolition vehicles. The Basilisk is unfinished and broken because it was originally from my Catachan army, which is now being used as the basis for a fully converted army, and the Basilisk fits in better with the fluff for the Cadians.

Command Squad. Flag was because it was some football thing at the time. No idea if it is a legal squad now. Originally they were all veterans, one with an honorifica Imperialis (I think) and a power weapon, along with attached psychic person (I forget what he's called).

Other Command Squad. Both Command Squads were to be fully armed with modified plasma pistols (I was told this was a rather reckless idea, but I like it!)

Infantry Squads.

Support:

Basilisk. Those are how many kills it has actually got, so I didn't paint over that part. Interesting fact, it's first kill was Asdrubael Vect! My brand new Basilik and my friend's brand new Vect lined up alongside our regular armies. Turn one, BOOM! Direct hit, roll 6's, happy days! (for me, my friend wasn't so happy, he'd been going on about Asdrubael Vect for weeks before!).

Forge World Cyclops Demolition Vehicles

Random bike I felt like making.

Space Marines

First photo-dump of today. My Space Marines have seen better days.

Got a free Terminator from White Dwarf, inspired me to start updating my old (very badly painted) Terminators. Only finished one so far...

Force Commander converted from the Chaplain on a bike.

I was a bit late to jump on the bandwagon of rhino rush, from what I hear it got cut out of the game several years ago. Still, this was the squad I was making for it. Along with my original Force Commander, who needs a repaint.

Scouts, I like scouts. Paint jobs are a bit of a mish-mash because I did originally paint them blue + flames, then decided they should be camo, then changed my mind again due to comments on a forum I posted them on. Includes my fav scout, 'claws' :)

Rhino with Forge World spaced armour, and Predator. Can change the Predator to Annihilator if needed, or another Rhino.

Finally my Land Raider Crusader. Large pieces of metal balancing on thing pieces of plastic don't work well. Also appear I was using it to prop up several books for the last couple of years. May become a project to fix sometime.

Weekend Report 10/8/09

So I figure the best way to start this blog rolling is to start posting pictures!

I have no idea where this model comes from. I found it amongst several bags of metal minis all labelled £3. Possibly from the GW great lead sale many moons ago? Might not be though, as the tab on the base has no sign of GW on it anywhere, on the front it says P25 or something, and the back it says MARAUDER, but it came with a GW base, so I'm rather at a loss. Anyway, felt like trying out this painting from a white basecoat, think it's turning out quite well so far. I dunno what colour to paint the hat, was gonna go for brown, but that would match his hair too much, so thinking a black/grey colour?

Here are just some other things I'm working on. Testing out a technique on the fire dragon, I fear that if not done properly it will end up a mess and look rubbish, which it looks like it might. Also did the flames on the marine, not bad so far on him.

Finally, a preview of my ongoing sniper/autocannon conversion. It will mount the longer-barreled autocannon from the heavy weapons team box about where the square is on the side, so i decided to use plasticard and make the whole sentinel symmetrical. I have done a bit more work since this photo was taken, will post later. Mind you, this sentinel has been in construction for quite a long time, so the end product may end up fairly different from my original plan!

EDIT: I'm gonna have to figure out a better way to layout this blog! Expect to see things jump around a bit in the next few weeks lol!

Welcome to Tj's Warhammer & 40k

So, here I am starting a blog on my creations in warhammer and 40k (probably mostly 40k). Why? Well, I was partly inspired by a recent post over at ++From the Warp++. Also I guess I feel like I should post something online somewhere, so here I am :)

Firstly I should say I haven't actively played or collected for many years now, but I do have a lot of old models lying around my room. I guess this is mostly due to what happens to many people - I grew up a bit. I went to uni (left home), discovered alcohol, parties and girls (oh, and study), all of which eat up all of my precious money and time, and still do! But it's now the summer holidays, so I figured I might pick up a few things again. Anway...

The armies I collect are:
Warhammer: Lizardmen. I have various other models lying around too, but this is the closest I have to an army lol. Almost all the old-style (4th Ed?) lizardmen.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines, Imperial Guard and Tau. I also have quite a few 'nids, and a few random models (mostly eldar).

Hopefully I'll post some of my current stuff soon, and a few pics of my current project. I'm currently working on a converted IG Sentinel (not the new sentinel lol, I'm way too out-of-date for that). Never worked with plasticard before, so it should be interesting !
